PAKPAC educates Pakistani-Americans on pressing policy debates and provides them a unique platform to influence these debates.
PAKPAC activities are governed by its National Board which elects a President for a three year term. Each member of the Board contributes at least $4,000 annually and is actively engaged in politics.
History
The Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee was founded in 1989 by a group of visionary Pakistani Americans. In an increasingly complex world, our founders saw a need for greater political coordination, activism and advocacy.
Today, our adopted home, the United States, stands at difficult foreign policy crossroads. Decisions made in Washington will affect future generations across the globe. PAKPAC members are impacting and educating policymakers.
PAKPAC is the only Pakistani-American organization registered with the Federal Election Commission. We are not affiliated with any political party in Washington or Islamabad. All PAKPAC funding and expenditures are public record as required by federal regulations.

We support candidates who are committed to federal policies that promote good governance, education and security in Pakistan and civil liberties in the United States.

ASAD MALIK
Asad Malik is the President of PAKPAC National Board. He is also the CEO and President of the Amerilodge Group, a privately-owned company which manages, operates and owns hotels in the Midwestern United States. In 2018, Malik was named as one of DBusiness’ 500 Most Powerful Business Leaders and Amerilodge was listed as one of Crain’s Fast 50-Fastest Growing Companies. He was recognized by Ernst & Young as EY Entrepreneur of the Year and received the Michigan Economic Bright Spot Award. Prior to starting his career in hospitality, Asad held several executive leadership positions in finance at top hospitals in Michigan, including his last role as Vice President of Finance at Henry Ford West Bloomfield, part of the Henry Ford Health System.
Dr Uzma Rehman Ali
Dr Uzma Rehman Ali is a board certified Orthopedic Hand surgeon. Practicing in Metro Detroit area. She is involved in the education of the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. She joined and has served as President of the Michigan Chapter. She is currently serving as the President Elect .
She lives in Troy Michigan with her husband, Azhar and 3 children.
DR. IMRAN SHARIEF
Dr. Sharief specialize In Pulmonary Medicine Critical Care Medicine. During the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Dr. Sharief managed thousands of patients infected with COVID-19 in Los Angeles and Orange County CA, thanks to his work managing some of the most critical patients he saved countless lives.
In his free time, Dr. Sharief works tirelessly to educate communities in U.S and Pakistan and has made multiple television appearances as a healthcare expert.
Saba Shabnam
Saba Shabnam is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician practicing traditional, anti-aging and Bariatric medicine in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex for more than 14 years.
Saba graduated in 1996 from Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi with honors. She completed her Family Medicine training at the prestigious The Brooklyn Hospital Center affiliate Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City where she served as the Chief Resident. After residency she moved to the DFW area and has been working in private practice since 2005.
Saba is the Founding President of PAKPAC‘s Dallas Chapter. Under her tenure, the Dallas Chapter saw massive growth with it quickly becoming one of PAKPAC’s most powerful national chapters.
JALIL KHAN
Jalil Khan specializes in preventive cardiology. He resides in Dallas, Texas, along with his four beautiful daughters and wife of 21 years, Ayesha. He was born and raised in Pakistan and graduated from the Allama Iqbal Medical School of Punjab University. Whether through planning 5,000 person national medical conventions, volunteer relief after the devastating 2010 Pakistan floods or participating in ACLU Dallas activities, he follows the words of Thomas Edison: “If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.”
DR. MOHAMMAD TARIQ
Dr. Mohammad Tariq is a physician, and attended Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore. He moved to the United States and practices anesthesiology and pain management in the Dallas area. He has since ventured into the business side of medicine and into real estate. He has also been passionately involved in politics. He served as an elected board member of the ACLU of Texas for seven years after 9/11, and in 2019, he began the American United Public Affairs Committee to combat Islamophobia and to stand up for human rights, especially those in Pakistan.
He has since joined the board of PAKPAC to continue to fight for this mission. He has also engaged in philanthropic efforts, the largest of which is dedicated to building an IT College to service underserved populations in his hometown of Khanpur, hoping in time to convert the college into a university. He resides in the Dallas area.
IJAZ CHAUDHRY
Ijaz Chaudhry, Esq. is a second generation Pakistani-American who lives and works in the Philadelphia suburbs. His first job was on Capitol Hill in Washington. He has devoted his law career and free time to strengthening civil liberties for all Pennsylvanians. He is an elected Democratic State Committee member in Pennsylvania. He is most passionate about civic engagement and political empowerment for all minorities and immigrant communities.
UMAR FAROOQ, M.D., CMD
Dr. Umar Farooq is a board certified in Internal Medicine with a private practice in Bensalem, PA along with his wife Dr. Sabahat Farooq. He is also a certified medical director (CMD) of nursing homes and a hospice. Dr. Farooq is a preceptor and teaching attending for medical students and residents at Aria Health System. He is a civil surgeon for USCIS. Dr. Umar Farooq ran for Bucks County Coroner office in November 2011 as the democratic candidate. He is well known socially and politically in the community and widely recognised for his bipartisan work that includes Health, Education, Public Safety and Political awareness. He is actively involved in the growth of the community and developing and maintaining the community process. He always emphasised to take an active part in local politics and engage in civic duties. He is the Founder & Chairman of RECAP (Reaching & Empowering Communities across Pennsylvania).
Mossadaq Chughtai
Mossadaq Chughtai is the founder and CEO of Zima Inc, a privately held umbrella company that owns, operates, and co-owns several companies in USA and Pakistan.
Mr. Chughtai has played an active role in promoting a stronger relationship between US and Pakistan and was a founding member of Pakistan American Leadership Center (PAL-C) which established the Congressional Pakistan Caucus in 2004.
Mr. Chughtai lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife, Malika Chughtai, with whom he shares four children.
ABDUL AHAD KAZI, MD, FACS
Dr. Abdul Ahad Kazi is an accomplished ophthalmologist with extensive international experience. Born in Pakistan, he completed his elementary and secondary education in Saudi Arabia and earned his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. Fluent in five languages, including English, Urdu, Sindhi, Turkish, and Arabic, his linguistic skills enrich his patient care and global collaborations.
Dr. Kazi furthered his expertise through residency training at Tulane University in New Orleans, followed by dual fellowships in Diseases of the Vitreous and Retina. His contributions to the field are evident in numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Beyond his medical career, Dr. Kazi is known for his philanthropic work. He served as a Visiting Professor of Ophthalmology in Pakistan, sponsored by the Higher Education Commission. Currently, he holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Tulane University.
His commitment to social welfare is equally commendable. Dr. Kazi is a founding member of the Iqra Math and Science Academy in Alabama, offering education and F1 visas to students. Additionally, he co-founded the Salam Free Clinic, providing healthcare to uninsured patients.
Dr. Kazi’s philanthropic efforts extend globally, focusing on educational projects and housing initiatives in Pakistan. He also conducts free corneal transplants during eye surgery camps, restoring sight and hope.
Dr. Abdul Ahad Kazi’s life embodies a remarkable blend of medical excellence and a dedication to humanitarian causes, reflecting his compassion and professional prowess.
DR. IMRAN JAMIL
Dr. Imran Jamil is an Addiction Specialist, Psychiatrist, who has been serving the NJ population since the past 5 years. In 2000 during his electives at Yale University, he developed an interest in research. In 2005, he joined an Alzheimer’s disease research at New York University. He published a few research articles including two book chapters on Alzheimer’s disease. He also completed an Addiction Fellowship and started working as a Medical Director of a psychiatry unit. He is currently working as an Assistant professor of Psychiatry and teaching and monitoring medical students and residents.
Dr Jamil is an active member of the Jersey City local Pakistani American community. That is actively involved in recognizing the helpful influence of the growing Pakistani American community, involved in improving the Hudson County community. In addition, continuously improving and making a positive impact both locally and globally. He constantly engages in the Pakistani local politics and annual Independence Day Pakistan annual flag hoisting ceremony at the City hall of Jersey City. He has received multiple Citations from the Jersey City Hall for community services. He takes great pleasure in being a helpful part of the community and understands the importance of civic actions and public services. He is inspired by the historic words of John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”.
NAEEM A QAZI M.D.FACC
Naeem A Qazi is a 1973 graduate of King Edwards Medical College in Lahore. He immigrated to the United States in 1974 - a historic year in American politics. He is a leading expert on cardiovascular diseases and has a private practice in rural Bluefield, VA. He is the proud father of three daughters and a son.
MOHAMMAD SULEMAN
Mohammad Suleman is an accomplished surgeon who has practiced in the New Orleans area since 1981. He came to the United States in 1972 after graduating from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He trained as a surgeon in New York before moving to Louisiana. Suleman has been involved with PAKPAC since its inception in the 1990s and served as president of the national board in 2009.
He has been very active in the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, serving initially as the president of his local chapter and then as Treasurer, Secretary, and ultimately as President of APPNA in 2002. He also has served as president of the Alumni Association of King Edward Medical College.
ATIF JALEES KHAN
Atif Jalees Khan is an academic radiation oncologist in the New York/New Jersey area. His interests outside of medicine include training in the martial arts, studying the poetry of the Urdu masters, and engaging political advocacy that uplifts ordinary citizens around the globe.
ARIF MAHMOOD
Dr. Arif is a primary care physician who currently resides and practices in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is a certified medical director of several nursing homes as well as a real estate investor. Dr. Arif has a strong passion for civic engagement and stays actively involved within Wichita Falls. Also he is an avid art collector with a strong interest in miniature art and Kufic calligraphy. He also enjoys writing and has published several works with Dawn, The Friday Times, and numerous local magazines. His strongest desire remains to serve others and better humanity. He firmly believes in the words of Abdul Sattar Edhi,
“People have become educated, but have not yet become human”.
Ali Rashid
Ali Rashid is a young dynamic, ambitious, hard-working, and empathetic individual with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
Ali attended CUNY Baruch College and received his BBA with Honors in Finance and Investments. His bountiful career began when he started his real estate career at the age of 19 while attending college full time. In addition, Ali has worked for Corporate America at HSBC Bank as a Vice President for Intra Group Sales. Because of his successful career as a broker, Ali pursued additional outlets to hone his skills in and resultantly, started in Real Estate Investing in 2012 by wholesaling and retailing properties.
He currently leads the team at Kingsland Properties. Due to his leadership roles in the development of a new generation of entrepreneurs, in association with his phenomenal investment and property development skills he has been honored with the Top 20 under 40 awards issued by the Long Island Board of Realtors in addition to the Stars under 40 by Schneps Communication.
Hamza Sheikh
President of PAKPAC Georgia Chapter
Dr. Hamza Sheikh is a physician (endocrinologist, internal medicine) practicing in the metro Atlanta area. He has been involved in various political and welfare activities over the years. He believes that it is important for all citizens to get politicized to strengthen democracy and bring about a positive change in society. Nations can only prosper when they have true democracy, rule of law and protection of fundamental human rights. He is inspired by the following quotes by Plato - "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." and "The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."
Naeem Ahmed
Dr. Naeem Ahmed lives in Freeland Michigan and is board certified in Internal Medicine and in private practice in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from Sindh Medical University in Karachi and did his Internal Medicine training in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After completing his residency, he joined a multi-speciality group practice in Bay City, Michigan and has been part of the group since and has managed and served as President of the group for the last 15 years. He also served as the Chief of Staff at McLaren Bay Region hospital.
Naeem is a past president of the APPNA Michigan chapter. Joining PAKPAC in 2019 he served as Treasurer/Secretary of PAKPAC’s Michigan Chapter and is presently finishing his term as the President for the PAKPAC Michigan chapter.
