PAKPAC USA

The Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, and we extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends during this difficult time.

As the 39th President of the United States and winner of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, Jimmy Carter embodied a life of unparalleled service, compassion and humanitarian values. He was a tireless champion for human rights and democracy, values that are at the core of the mission of  PAKPAC.

PAKPAC is particularly grateful to former President Carter’s organization, the Carter Center, for raising its voice on democracy and human rights in Pakistan over the years- including the center’s most recent statement after the recent protests in Islamabad, Pakistan held on November 26th,2024 calling for a credible and transparent investigation and highlighting the plight of political prisoners and others who are facing repression in Pakistan. Carter’s willingness to speak out forcefully against injustice underscored his character and the values  of courage, hope, and optimism that he embodied.

The legacy of Jimmy Carter’s brave leadership and service both here in the U.S. and abroad to eradicate disease, promote peace, and support free and fair elections should serve as a model for all who are working towards the betterment of humanity.
