New Years Statement from new PAKPAC President Uzma Ali
Myself and the entire PAKPAC team wish you a healthy and prosperous new year.
If we haven’t already met, my name is Uzma Ali, I am an Orthopedic Hand surgeon practicing in the Metro Detroit area. I am honored to be your new PAKPAC president and will be leading this incredible organization through the incoming 2026 midterm elections and through the 119th session of Congress which officially began yesterday.
As the former PAKPAC National Board Secretary and leader of the PAKPAC chapter in Michigan, the perennial swing state, I have witnessed first hand how elections are fought and won.
With Pakistani-Americans now living in each of the 50 states, our grassroots efforts to organize and build relationships with elected officials in every state are now more important than ever and that is where PAKPAC fits in.
The last two years under my predecessor Asad Malik, were hands down the biggest and most successful years in PAKPAC history. Together we:
- Successfully built a coalition of Congressional leaders that introduced and successfully passed H.Res.901 – “Expressing support for democracy and Human Rights in Pakistan’
- Helped promote numerous Congressional letters calling for the US to put pressure on Pakistan to curb democratic repression and human rights abuses.
- Endorsed and supported a sizable roster of Congressional campaigns with a near 100% win rate and established relationships with key policymakers in the incoming presidential administration.
- Grew our membership and list of PAKPAC state chapters tenfold.
Thank you Asad for all of your tireless work to bring PAKPAC to these new heights.
++++++++++++++++
With a rapidly changing situation on the ground in Pakistan we cannot sit on the sidelines over the next two years. We have a voice and we must continue to raise it.
PAKPAC allows us to do just that.
Candidates around the country regularly call the PAKPAC office in Washington, DC. We are the only organization in our community registered with the Federal Election Commission and with an office adjacent to Capitol Hil.
Together, we will make an impact in more races than ever before. Together, we will help bring Democracy back to Pakistan and make it stronger than ever before. And together, we will raise the voices of our community to a fever pitch that shakes the ground in Washington and
Islamabad.
I am grateful that each of you is committed to our bipartisan advocacy during these historic times and I look forward to working alongside each and every one of you.
Uzma Ali
President
PAKPAC National Board
