46 members of Congress urge Biden to take action on Pakistan!
Over the summer, Congress passed House Resolution 901, “Expressing support for democracy and human rights in Pakistan,” by an overwhelming 368-7 vote. Despite the resolution’s passage, the Biden Administration has taken no action to protect democracy in Pakistan by implementing the stipulations of the legislation.
To address this inaction, PAKPAC Allies Congressman John James (R-MI) and Congresswoman Susan Wild (D-PA) wrote a bipartisan letter to the Biden administration demanding that they take steps to enact the provisions of H.Res.901.
Today, the letter was sent to the White House and thanks to the support of thousands of Pakistani American community leaders from across the country who wrote, called, and met with their local members of Congress, the letter was signed by 46 influential members of Congress.
Notable signers included:
Longtime friend of PAKPAC Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, and key PAKPAC allies on the House Foreign Relations Committee like Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-TX), and Congressman Mike Lawler (R-NY).
Overall 14 members of the key House Foreign Affairs Committee signed onto the letter.
